Gilly that happen to me once because a wooden spoon had fallen to the bottom. Scary you probably want to get that checked out.
yikes. Mine does that when I put tupperware and other plasticy things on the bottom rack. They dont even come out melted they just stink up the whole kitchen with this burnt smell. So top rack it is for me with the tuppers.
